TAC® 50A1-R2, 50A1, & 416 - McMillan Tactical Rifle
Overwhelming force. Benchrest accuracy at extreme range.
McMillan TAC®50A1-R2 The McMillan TAC®50A1-R2 features a new hydraulic recoil mitigation system for the TAC®50 rifle in .50BMG. The TAC®50A1-R2 reduces the peak recoil from the .50BMG cartridge by approximately 90%. The heart of the rifle’s recoil mitigation system is a proprietary hydraulic piston in the buttstock. As the rifle is fired, the piston compresses, softening the recoil by lowering the peak force and spreading it out over several milliseconds. The sensation for the shooter is that of a long push, rather than a violent punch. Addtional recoil reduction is provided by the proprietary muzzle break.
The McMillan TAC®50A1 is an update to the renown TAC®50. The TAC®50A1 rifle includes several product enhancements over the original TAC®50 rifle that has been deployed by military forces around the world. The TAC®50A1 features a new take-down fiberglass stock with a forend that is 5” longer, moving the balance point for the bipod forward. The TAC®50A1 includes an integral cheekpiece with an option for vertical adjustment. The stock incorporates a smaller pistol grip to fit a wider range of hand shapes, with and without gloves. The new bipod is lighter yet sturdier than the TAC®50A1. The legs adjust vertically, as well as forward and rearward to fine tune the rifle for elevation
McMillan adds a new .416 Barrett platform to the TAC® Series. The TAC®416 is built on the same platform as the renowned TAC®50 rifle, but is chambered in the lighter but faster .416 Barrett. The .416 barrett is based on a shortened .50BMG case with a .416 caliber bullet. It is intended to provide superior long-range ballistic performance compared to the .50BMG cartridge, especially beyond 1,000 yards. Recoil of the TAC®416 is close to that of a 308 Win hunting rifle.
